Tapioca with Fish Curry, Maravalli Kilangu Masala


Ingredients :

Tapioca - 1                                                                 Cooking Time : 20 Minutes
Onions - 1 cup
Red Chilly - 2                                                             Serves : 2 People
Curry/Cilantro Leaf
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Urad/Channa Dal - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 Tsp
Salt - 1 Tsp
Oil - 2 Tsp
Tapioca With Fish Curry
Method :

        Peel the skin from the tapioca and wash it well. Add 1 Cup water in a pressure cooker and place the tapioca. Add turmeric powder and salt to it. Pressure cook for 4 whistles.


Smash the tapioca well with a laddle. Remove the strand from the middle part.


Heat another pan and add oil. Add mustard seeds, Urad dal and channa dal. Add onions, Red chilly, curry leaf and coriander seeds. Saute until onion is cooked well.


Add the smashed Tapioca to it.


Mix all the ingredients well. Reduce the flame and cook for 2 Minutes.

Yennai Kathirikai for Puliyodarai, Brinjal curry with coconut

                 This Yennai Kathirikai recipe is a excellent combination for Puliyodarai and Curd rice. Dont forget to add coconut flakes becoz its one of the main ingredient for this recipe.
             
Ingredients :

Brinjal/ Eggplant - 1/2 Kg                                                       Cooking Time : 20 Min
Onions- 1 Cup
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 Tsp                                                          Serves : 4 People
Urad dal/Channa dal - 1/2 Tsp
Dried Onions/Badaga - 1 tsp
Curry Leaf
Turmeric
Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Salt
Sesame Oil - 2 Tbsp

Yennai Kathirikai for Puliyodarai
Method :

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, Urad dal/channa dal and dried onions. Add chopped onions and curry leaf and saute it.

                                 

Cut the brinjal/egg plant into small pieces and soak it in water so that it doesn't turn black. Cut the coconut flakes as well.

                                 

Drain the water from the Brinjal and put it in the pan. Add turmeric, salt and stir it. Add 1/2 cup water and chilly powder to it and cook it well.

                                 

Once the brinjal is cooked well n soft and all the water gets dried add coconut flakes to it.

                                 

Cook for 2 minutes and turn-off the stove.
Tastes excellent with the Puliyodarai and curd rice.

Pattani Sundal


Ingredients :

Dried Green Peas - 1/2 Cup (Soaked)                                       Cooking Time : 15 Min
Onions - 1/2 Cup
Green chilly - 2                                                                         Soaking Time for peas : Min 6 Hours
Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Urad/Channa Dal - 1/2 Tsp                                                       Serves : 2 People
Curry Leaf
Coriander Leaf
Turmeric
Oil - 2 Tbsp

To grind :
Coconut - 1 Tbsp
Coriander Seeds - 1 Tsp
Fennel Seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Cinnamon - a small piece
Cloves - 2
Poppy seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Ginger/garlic - 1 Tsp Crushed

Method :

Heat a pan with 2 Tsp oil and add mustard seeds, Urad dal/Channa dal once it splutters add onions, green chilly and saute it.
        
                                 

Grind all the ingredients given to grind. Make it to nice smooth paste.

                                 

Pressure cook the soaked peas for 3 whistles and drain the water. Add the grinded masala to the onions and stir it. Cook until the raw smell goes off. Add salt and turmeric powder.

                                 

Add Curry leaf and coriander leaf. Finally add the cooked peas and mix it well in the masala
Cook until it turns dry.
                               

Transfer it to a serving dish. Enjoy has a side dish with your lunch or a excellent snack for your tea time.

Mushroom Pepper Fry

                Lets cook  Mushroom Pepper Fry today.....
Ingredients :

Mushroom - 1 pack                                                            Preparation Time : 10 Min
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 Tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Salt
Pepper Powder - 1 Tsp
Mushroom Pepper Fry
Method :
Heat a pan with oil, add mustard seeds, Urad dal.

Once it splutters add chopped mushrooms.


Add Salt and Turmeric powder. Saute it well.


 Mushroom looses out water and cook until all the water evaporates.


Finally add pepper powder and stir it for few seconds


Mushroom pepper fry is ready .


Serve hot as a side dish with curd rice or Roti.

Potato & Brinjal Curry

        Potato& Brinjal Curry is very tasty and simple recipe cooked in sesame oil. Its a best combination with Bisibelebath and Rasam rice.

Ingredients :
Potato - 1                                                                  Preparation Time : 20 Min
Brinjal - 5                                                                  Serves : 4 People
Curry Leaf
Coriander Leaf
Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Onions - 1 cup
Tomato - 1
Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric powder
Salt
Sesame Oil - 4 Tbsp


Method :
Scrape off the potato skin and cut into small cubes. Cut the Brinjal into small pieces and soak in water to avoid color change. 

Heat a pan with 4 Tbsp Oil and add mustard seeds. Once it Splutters add chopped Onions and curry leaf.
Saute it for a while.

Then add chopped tomatoes.


Drain of the water from the vegetables and add in the pan. 


Add Turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt. Saute it well for 5 min. Then add 1/2 cup water to it.


Close and cook the vegetable at low flame. Cook until oil oozes out.


Garnish with Coriander leaf.


Transfer it to a serving bowl.


Enjoy with Rice or Roti.

Pavaikkai Fry ( Bitter Melon Fry)

                  Bitter Melon or Pavaikkai recipe is a very good & healthy recipe. It is good for diabetics. I used to add bit more Urad dal while frying. Do not add water to cook. Close it with a lid and cook it by stirring it occasionally. Lets try this recipe.

Ingredients :

Bitter Melon - 2 Cups                                                     Preparation Time : 15 Min
Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Urad Dal - 1 Tsp                                                            Serves : 2 People
Chilly Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 Tsp
Salt
Oil
Pavaikkai Fry

Method :

Heat a pan with 2 Tbsp oil and  add mustard seeds & Urad Dal.


Then add chopped Bitter melon, Salt & Turmeric.


Saute it well. Close the pan with a lid and stir it occasionally until it gets cooked well. Bitter melon takes a long time to cook. Do not add water.


Add Chilly Powder and stir it.


Reduce the flame and stir it for few more minutes.


Pavaikkai fry is now ready to serve.


Serve hot with Rice.
