Semiya Kichadi (Vermicelli Upma )


Ingredients :

Vermicelli - 1/2 Cup                                                  Preparation Time - 15 min
Carrot - 1/2 cup
Peas - 1/2 cup                                                             Serves : 2 people
Onions - 1/2 cup
Vermicelli Upma
Tomato - 1 small
Mustard seeds - 1 Tsp
Channa dal - 1 Tsp
Curry/coriander leaf - 1/2 cup
Turmeric - 1/2 Tsp
Salt - 1 Tsp
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Ghee- 1 Tsp
Water - 1 1/2 cup

Method :

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, channa dal and onions. Then add chopped carrot, peas, curry leaf and tomato. 

                               

Add 1 1/2 cup water, add turmeric and salt. Boil well until the vegetables gets cooked.

                               

Add the vermicelli to it. Simmer the stove. Close the pan with the lid for 5 minutes.

                             

Open the lid and mix the upma. Close it again with the lid. Cook until the vermicelli gets separated and the water gets evaporated.

                              

Add 1 tsp ghee finally if needed. Garnish with cilantro leaf. Transfer it to a serving bowl.
Enjoy with coconut chutney.
