Horse Gram Rasam (Urulli Rasam) Kollu Rasam

Horsegram Rasam is the tastiest rasam ever. No other rasam will beat its taste. Not only taste, it has lots of medicinal benefits too. I usually prepare this rasam when i make Kollu Paruppu chutney. You'll need to add some grinded kollu chutney paste to the rasam to increase the taste. Please follow the sprouting & cooking instruction given in Kollu Paruppu chutney.

Ingredients :

Horse Gram - 1/2 Cup
Red Chilly - 1
Garlic - 2 Pods
Curry Leaf
Coriander Leaf
Tamarind - 1 Lime size
Badaga(Dried Onions)
Hing - A pinch
Salt

NOTE: Follow the instruction given in Kollu Paruppu(Horse Gram Chutney)
     http://letscookmintkitchen.blogspot.com/2014/03/horse-gram-chutney-urulli-paruppu-kollu.html

Method :

Horse gram has to be sprouted well. Then pressure cook it as said in Kollu Paruppu Chutney

Filter the cooked water separately in a bowl. (You can also add 1 or 2 Tbsp of grinded chutney in the water). Soak tamarind in water and extract the water.

Mix the Tamarind extract in the Horse gram water & add salt. Mix it well until salt dissolves.
Heat a pan with 1 Tbsp oil & add Badaga, Red Chilly, Garlic, Curry Leaves & Hing. Saute it for few seconds.

Pour the water mixture in the pan slowly. And close it slightly with a lid. Allow the rasam to heat until you note froth like appearance coming. Switch off the stove immedietly.

Transfer it to a serving bowl. Serve hot with rice and appalam.

Thank You. See you in next post.
