This is the basic method of Sambar which is served with rice. We usually call it has Ulibutaambara. Any vegetables can be used such as Drumstick, Brinjal, Carrot, Radish, etc., My Best combintion with sambar is potato poriyal and appalam. Lets try this.
Ingredients :
Toor Dal - 1/2 cup Preparation Time: 30 min
Drumstick
Brinjal(Eggplant) Serves : 2 people
Radish
Tomato - 1 large
Small onions - 1/2 cup
Tarmind - lime size
Curry Leaf
Coriander leaf
Turmeric - pinch
Badaga
Chilly powder - 1/2 Tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Asafoetida - pinch
Salt
Oil
Method :
Wash 1/2 cup Toor dal and pressure cook it with the 1 tomato. Cut the vegetable.
Stir everything and let the vegetables to cook well. Finally add salt and tamarind extract.
Let it cook for 5 min. Close it with a lid. Place a pan in another stove. Heat 3 Tbsp oil and add 1/4 Tsp mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Hing and pour it immedietly to the boiling sambar. And close the lid for few seconds.
Finally switch off the flame. And replace it to a serving bowl. Yummy sambar is now ready to be served.

Once the Dal is cooked smash it well and add 2 cups water to it.Once it gets boiled, add the vegetable to it.
Then add 1/2 Tsp chilly powder, Badaga, Onions, curry leaf, coriander leafStir everything and let the vegetables to cook well. Finally add salt and tamarind extract.
Let it cook for 5 min. Close it with a lid. Place a pan in another stove. Heat 3 Tbsp oil and add 1/4 Tsp mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Hing and pour it immedietly to the boiling sambar. And close the lid for few seconds.

Sreve with hot steaming rice.
