Tomato Rice( Thakkali Coollu) Thakkali Sadham

Ingredients :

Basmati rice - 1 cup                                               Preparation Time :  45 min
Tomato  - 4                                                          
Onions - 1 cup                                                       Serves : 2 People
Green Chilly - 5
Ginger/Garlic Paste - 2 Tbsp
Bay leaf - 3
Cinnamon - 2 ''
Cloves - 5
Cardamom - 3
Anise - 5
Mint Leaves
Curry Leaves
Coriander Leaves
Salt
Tumeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
Water - 1 1/2 cup
Ghee
Oil


Method :

Soak Basmati rice in water for 15 min. Chop the Onions, Tomatoes and green chilly.

                   

Heat the cooker and add 5 Tbsp oil. Once the oil gets heated, add Bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, Anise, Green chilly and saute for a while. Then add Onions and saute it.

                      

Add Ginger Garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes. Finally add tomatoes, tumeric powder, mint leaves and saute it. Add 1 tsp salt and let the tomatoes cook well until oil floats top.

                      
Add 2 cups water to the cooked tomatoes and let the water to boil. Add additional salt to the boiling water. Finally add soaked rice to it and add some ghee to it. Sprinkle curry leaves and coriander leaves before closing the pressure cooker lid. 

                     

Pressure cook for 2 whistles and reduce to low flame for 10 minutes. Switch off the stove. 
  
Serve hot with onion raita or onion pachidi.
