Kadalai Curry is a popular traditional dish of South India. You can use Black chickpeas or white chickpeas. It serves has a best combination with Appam, Puttu. Fennel seeds gives nice flavor to the curry.
Ingredients :
Chickpeas (Sundal) - 1 Cup cooked Preparation Time : 30 min
Onions - 1 Cup
Cinnamon - 1 small piece Serves : 4 People
Cloves - 2
Fennel Seeds - 1 Tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 Tsp
Curry Leaf
Salt
Oil
To Roast & Grind :
Tomato - 1
Coconut - 3 Tbsp
Red Chilly - 2
Cumin seeds - 1 Tsp
Coriander Seeds - 1 Tbsp
Fried Gram - 1 Tsp
Coriander Leaf
Garlic - 3 pods
Method :
Set all the ingredients to roast. Heat oil in a pan and roast all the ingredients together. Cool and grind it to smooth paste.
Pour 2 cups water with the masala. Add Turmeric powder,curry leaf and salt. Allow the masala to boil.
Close the pressure cooker lid and cook it for 2 whistles. Transfer it to a serving bowl.

Heat the pressure cooker with 3 Tbsp oil & add Fennel seeds, Cinnamon & Cloves. Add onions and saute it for few minutes.
Add Cooked Kadalai and stir it. Then add the grinded masala to it.
Pour 2 cups water with the masala. Add Turmeric powder,curry leaf and salt. Allow the masala to boil.
Close the pressure cooker lid and cook it for 2 whistles. Transfer it to a serving bowl.
Serve hot with Appam, Puttu, Idiyappam, Dosa or Roti.
