Sorghum Paniyaaram ( Vellai Sollam Paniyaaram)

       Vellai Sollam is one of the traidition cereal grain used from olden days. It has high nutritional value with protein , fiber and minerals. Many people may not be aware of this cereal. I'm going to show how to make Vellai Solam paniyaaram which is popular healthy recipe in Tamilnadu.

Ingredients :

Grind & Fermentation : 8 Hrs
Sorghum or Vellai Sollam - 1 cup                                    Preparation Time : 30 Min
Urad Dal - 1/4 Cup
Salt - 1 Tsp
To Saute :                                                                       Serves : 2 People
Onions chopped - 1 cup
Green Chilly - 2
Curry Leaf
Coriander Leaf
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tsp

Method :

Soak 1 Cup Vellai Solam and 1/4 cup Urad in water for about 6 hrs. Wash it well and drain the water. Add it in a mixer jar.

                           

Grind it to a smooth paste & add salt & transfer it to a bowl for fermentation( 8Hrs) . Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, Onions, Green Chilly, Cumin seeds, coriander leaf and curry leaf.

                           

Add the sauteed onions to the fermented flour batter. Mix all the ingredients well. Meanwhile heat the paniyaara kal & pour the batter in the holes. 

                         

Add oil or ghee and turn it other side & cook. Cook both sides well until it turns crispy golden color.


                         

Tasty & Crispy Paniyaaram is ready. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
