Sambhar (Bayla Sambar )

     This sambhar variety is used  usually made for Breakfast. Its tastes yummy with Idly & Dosa added with Ghee. I use Urad dal and Instant sambar powder to prepare this sambar. It is sligthly different from the sambars which we use for rice, no added tamrind.

Ingredient :

Toor Dal - 1/2 cup                                                  Cooking Time : 20-30 min
Sambar
Carrot/ Beans/ Potato - 2 cups                              
Big Onion - 1 chopped                
Tomato - 2
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Tsp
Curry Leaves
Sakthi Sambar Powder - 2 Tbsp
Turmeric powder- pinch
Coconut Paste - 3 Tbsp
Salt
Oil



Method :

Pressure Cook Toor Dal with pinch of turmeric powder before you start preparing the process. Clean cut the vegetables to your shape.

                            

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, onions, curry leaves and saute it well. Add Tomato, Vegetables, Turmeric and salt. Stir it for few minutes.

                           

Add Sakthi Sambar powder,salt and mix it. Finally add precooked Toor dal to it and allow it to boil well. Add water if needed.

                             

Grind 2 tbps coconut to smooth paste and add it to the dal. Close with the lid and boil for few minutes. 

                          

Garnish with Coriander leaf and transfer it to a serving dish.
